#Vaccinium macrocarpon

Who is it?

The cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon), otherwise known as the American cranberry, is a plant from overseas, not to be confused with the brother that you can meet here, the other cranberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) and even less the bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), which we usually think of.

The Superpowers

The cranberry has a large number of flavonoids and very high contents of vitamin C.
The main action to which it is called to carry out, in the organism of dogs and cats, is to prevent bacteria from adhering to the bladder wall or to favor its detachment.
The active ingredients of cranberry also act as a scavenger of free radicals, that is, transforming them into non-toxic compounds for the body.

Where to find it

The cranberry makes its important contribution in the FORZA10 Renal Active, for dogs and cats , in the Urinary Active for cats and their correspondents in the wet version of the Actiwet line , without forgetting its presence in the FORZA10 Legend Maintenance Skin diet .

When Europeans arrived in America and discovered cranberry, they began to use it to fight scurvy during their stay aboard ships, at the mercy of the sea, especially for their richness in vitamin C.
A settler who settled there wrote to his English brother about this plant, telling of how it grew in the marshes and was similar to cherries, but excellent for making a sauce to accompany game, turkeys and other poultry.
The name of the cranberry seems to originate from its shape, as often happens, and means crane berry. The appearance of the stem and the flower is reminiscent of their neck.
